First half hour is letter writing and socializing. Meeting starts at 7 pm. Our meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Discussion will include what we want to work on for the upcoming year, including information about AI&#8217;s new program structure. A few thoughts from Larry:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>I invite ongoing reflection,on kinds of projects each of you\/any of you might want to<\/div>\n<div>develop and continue work on this upcoming season.\u00a0AIUSA now uses a Program<\/div>\n<div>Structure &#8211; Programs\u00a0include &#8211;\u00a0&#8220;America Program&#8221;; which is how detainee rights at Guantanamo\u00a0\u00a0 and Bgrm, CATreaty violations by the U.S.such as NDAA 2012,indefinate detentions, lack of fair trials, rendering of suspects, more;\u00a0 Migrant\u00a0rights issues and racialist profling can use our reponses, I feel.; Films and panel discussion at Ethnic Cultural Center\/UW, cosponsored by UW Amnesty, is<\/div>\n<div>a do able way to present each of these projects.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>Other areas of work? Other human rights issues you want to discuss? Bring your thoughts and ideas!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>*Update: We&#8217;ll also have updates from June &amp; July events including the Tiananmen Square Memorial event, Fremont Fair tabling with the Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, June 26th International Day in Support of Victims of Torture Vigil &amp; \u00a00p-ed. Also the July 17 lobby delegation to Jim McDermott&#8217;s office on the\u201cDream Act\u201d and NDAA, and several U.S. violations of Convention against Torture.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>*Future events planning will include:Venues for Writeathon; September to December Action, Event, human rights interests, more;\u00a0Discussion on AIUSA pending changes and how people are experiencing these changes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Hot weather getting to you? The Mosaic serves iced lattes &amp; other beverages, and a pay what you think it&#8217;s worth, choose your own donation philosophy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Also if the weather holds the meeting may include an impromptu picnic on the benches outside the Mosaic!<\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Mosaic Coffee House<\/strong>\u00a0is a nonprofit coffee house located in Seattle First Church (behind the Dick\u2019s Drive In on 45th Street in the Wallingford Neighborhood).
