Join us for our monthly meeting on Tuesday September 6, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in the den at the Mosaic Coffee House, 4401 2nd Ave NE. First half hour is letter writing and socializing. Meeting starts at 7 pm.
In addition to our usual letter writing actions, we will be writing personal letters to Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier held for five years by Hamas, whom AI will attempt to visit at the end of September (and deliver our letters & others if they can).

We will also be planning for future possible actions, including:
- Making a panel display for AIUSA’s Western Regional Conference from November 4-6 on our Visual Montage of Apology for Maher Arar (a Canadian citizen the U.S. renditioned for torture in Syria). More info at: http://www.amnestyusa.org/our-work/cases/usa-maher-arar
- Banned Books Week Action – possible local event. Too late to plan a reading this year? Coffee house letter writing on AI’s cases? Or? Actions at: http://www.amnestyusa.org/our-work/issues/prisoners-and-people-at-risk/censorship-and-free-speech/banned-books-week-2011
